Guest Blog By Heidi Haering: Where in the World is L.M Montgomery?

This project is about you, the Montgomery reader.

As a fan, reader, and/or scholar of L.M. Montgomery, you have hopefully viewed Montgomery's PEI Map: Island sites related to the author. This map connects locations in Montgomery's journals and novels with physical sites on Prince Edward Island. The Montgomery PEI map now has over 100 locations and we welcome submissions for new Montgomery-related locations from the public. Now we would like to know more about you!

L.M. Montgomery's appeal is far reaching. She has fans around the world due to the many translations of her work and the cross-cultural appeal of her themes and characters; for example, Anne of Green Gables alone has been translated into at least 30 languages and has sold more than 50 milion copies to date. These translatons have reached many people around the world in different cultural contexts, while the original work has affected readers worldwide, including in her home province of PEI.

To reflect the ways and the places where Montgomery is loved, we ask you for two things:

1) We would like you to share a quote or passage from a Montgomery work that has resonated with you.

2) Your favorite location for reading Montgomery (please do not select your home address for privacy reasons).

The goal of this map is for Montgomery fans to show each other where they are in the world and to highlight the diveristy of Montgomery's readership. Help us illustrate the worldwide appeal of her writing by filling out this survery!
