Q: When I launch The Bend in the Road, I see only a part of the screen, and cannot see the icons or the scrollbars for the text. What's happening, and what can I do?
A: You are probably running Windows in 640x480 resolution, which means that your screen is displaying only 640 by 480 pixels (or dots). Although this was considered the factory default many years ago, almost all desktops today are set at 800x600 or 1024x768 resolution. If you are seeing a cropped version of The Bend in the Road, all you have to do is set your resolution to 800x600, which you can do by the following steps:
With your mouse, right-click on your background. Select Properties from the pop-up menu. Select the top tab marked Settings. Drag the slider in the Screen area setting to 800x600. (While there, you may wish to ensure that your Colorssetting at the left is True color or High color for the best colour definition.) Click the Okay button. You may be asked to reboot: if not, you should reboot anyway. Upon restarting, your settings should now be perfect for viewing The Bend in the Road.
Please note that if you cannot select any higher than 640x480 with the drag bar, you likely have a very old video card that does not have the capabilities to handle the resolutions and colour that multimedia applications like The Bend in the Road require.
