CD ROM: The Bend in the Road

Awards

Since the June 29th, 2000 launch of The Bend in the Road: An Invitation to the World and Work of L.M. Montgomery at the Institute's international conference, in the presence of Her Excellency Adrienne Clarkson, Governor General of Canada, the CD-ROM has won seven awards.

In October 2000, The Bend in the Road won more awards than any other entry at the Baddeck International New Media Festival: Best Atlantic Canadian Entry (across genres); Atlantic New Media Award for Creativity (across genres); Honourable Mention in the Education, Information and Training category (disk-based).

In February 2001, The Bend in the Road received a Prince Edward Island Museum & Heritage Foundation Award. Part of the citation states, "The Bend in the Road: An Invitation to the World and Work of L.M. Montgomery presents numerous perspectives on Montgomery via CD-ROM – one of the only formats that can handle such a mountain of material. The creative team of Elizabeth Epperly, Deirdre Kessler and Anne-Louise Brookes, and principal writer Louise Polland, have crafted an authoritative and accessible guide to the life, works and lasting impact of Lucy Maud Montgomery."

In June 2001, The Bend in the Road received an AMTEC (Association for Media and Technology in Education in Canada) Award of Excellence (Informational-Interactive category) and the Canadian Education Association Educational Achievement Award at the AMTEC Media Festival held in Halifax.

In 2001, The Bend in the Road also won an award for creative excellence at the U.S. International Film and Video Festival held in Chicago "in recognition of outstanding audio visual productions" in the Specialty Productions–Interactive Multimedia (CD-ROM)–Education category.
